The dream I grew up thinking wasn’t enough to be The dream I grew up thinking wasn’t enough to be considered successful. Now I get to raise my daughters and teach them that raising humans is surely the most important job ever 🤎

Somewhere along the way, the world became too fast Somewhere along the way, the world became too fast. Fast content, fast scrolling, fast living.

I found myself craving slower things again. Something you can hold in your hands. Things made with intention. Old fashioned ways of living.

That’s why I created The Cottage Post 🤍

A cozy seasonal newspaper for homemakers, slow-living women, and anyone who wants to romanticize ordinary life again. Each issue is thoughtfully put together with recipes, seasonal inspiration, homemaking encouragement, garden notes, little activities, and small extras tucked inside like a letter from a friend.

Just something soft and beautiful to arrive in your mailbox each month 🤍

Comment ‘June’ if you want the link to order a copy of the newest issue. Or check out my bio 🤍🤍

5 things that make homemaking harder: 1. Backgro 5 things that make homemaking harder:

1. Background tv constantly on
Or the vent hood fan above the stove. It annoys me 😫

2. House pets.
People always get upset when I bring this up.. but it’s true. Pets are gross lol. Animals belong outside in the farm. This is coming from a current small dog owner and pet bird owner

3. Clutter.
We don’t need 100 tumblers, endless mugs, too many toys especially large ones, and unused clothes and shoes that take up too much physical and mental space.

4. Phones
They are too much of a distraction and lead us to slothfulness.

5. Feeling guilty for resting
I remember seeing my Nana take a break in the afternoon.. even a little nap on the couch. The home was always spotless and she always had dinner ready by 5.

I’m constantly working on all of the above. And I’ve learned so much throughout the past 13+ years of homemaking. Overall it’s been a wonderful experience and I love my job 🤍

Do you agree or disagree with any of these?

1. Grocery shopping in person every week I’ll st 1. Grocery shopping in person every week
I’ll still make the occasional stop at Trader Joe’s or Publix, but most of our groceries are ordered online now. I do pickup or delivery, and it saves me so much time in this season. With soon to be five kids, taking everyone into the store for a large haul every week just isn’t realistic for us.

2. Staying in pajamas all day
I just can’t go back to this. Getting dressed each morning helps me feel more awake, more put together, and ready for anything the day might bring. Whether it’s an unexpected outing or someone knocking on the door, I like feeling prepared.

3. Letting laundry pile up
Running one or two loads a day has completely changed things for me. It keeps everything manageable and helps me feel on top of the home. Having the laundry room on the same floor as our bedrooms has made this rhythm easier for me to keep.

4. Doing my own nails
I used to try to be really frugal here and even avoided it for a while, but I’ve learned this is something I’d rather outsource. It’s a small way I take care of myself, and realistically, I wouldn’t keep up with doing them at home anyway. Plus it adds so much clutter to buy all the things needed.

I just ordered some press-ons for my hands to try for in-between, but I still love to consistently outsource a nail salon pedicure.

5. Running errands multiple times a week
As a homeschool mom, this quickly turns into a time drain. I try to batch everything into one day instead, so the rest of the week can feel slower and more focused at home.

6. Not planning meals ahead
If I don’t know what we’re having for dinner by the morning, I’m stressed all day. Planning meals ahead (usually on Sundays) has helped me feel so much more at peace. I know what needs to be prepped, defrosted, or started early.

1. Tons of seasonal decor This stresses me becaus 1. Tons of seasonal decor
This stresses me because after a holiday is over I want to throw up thinking of how annoying each holiday piece looks to me 😩 These days I’d rather decorate for the actual season with flowers, greenery, candles, fruit bowls, etc. A few holiday touches are fine, but giant bins of Valentine’s Day and Easter decor just aren’t for me anymore.

2. Single use kitchen gadgets
I don’t need an onion shredder, avocado slicer, and an apple corer. I have a good old fashioned knife. I make rice in a regular pot on the stove.. what the heck is even an Instant Pot??! lol might get heat for that one.

3. Clutter containers instead of decluttering
Declutter first, always.

4. Random Target impulse buys
Or from any shop. I thoroughly research a product I need for homemaking instead of walking into a store and let the store decide for me.

5. Fast fashion
I’d rather spend more on quality pieces that will last years than 1,000 polyester ones. Plus polyester feels awful on my skin.

6. Too many planners, journals, and systems
Simple rhythms work better for me. At one point I realized I was buying new planners and systems more than actually sticking to simple habits that already worked. Now I have one simple lined journal I bring with me everywhere. It’s where I write grocery lists, dinner plans, appointments, to-dos etc. I do still have a homemaking binder for recipes, decluttering plans, seasonal cleaning etc but that doesn’t get accessed as much as my simple daily journal.

The older I get the more I crave simplicity. I’ve been huge on decluttering for years.. I did an entire Marie Kondo decluttering series on my YT channel years ago. With our recent move plus baby number 5 on the way I have been craving to re simplify again and share my journey on my channel in hopes of inspiring others who need it and sharing the many tips I have learned through the years of homemaking.

Would you watch?

Not every morning is perfectly slow or peaceful, b Not every morning is perfectly slow or peaceful, but I’m grateful to say most of our mornings are slow. I don’t usually schedule appointments or outings so early in the morning.
And you know what makes slow mornings even better?? Getting up before the kids and beginning the day in the word 📖

What makes your mornings feel calmer in your home?

Haven’t done this since I was a kid. We sold our Haven’t done this since I was a kid. We sold our washer and dryer so taking 7 loads + 4 kids to the laundromat weekly has been a fun adventure until we move to our new place 🤍

Love being my @trulyfreehome laundry detergent. It gives the old school laundry soap scent without the toxic chemicals 🤍
